What Robusta Screen 19 and 20 are

These are the largest beans in Vietnam Robusta. More than 90% of the lot stays on a screen 19 (about 7.5 mm) or a screen 20 (about 7.9 mm), and no bean is smaller than screen 16. Only a small share of each crop reaches these sizes, so the grades are sold in smaller volumes and at a premium.

Both are Grade 1, graded to TCVN 4193, from the Central Highlands.

Who buys large-bean Robusta

  • Roasters of premium Robusta who sell on bean size and an even roast.
  • Whole-bean retail brands, where a large, polished bean is part of the product’s look.
  • Buyers in markets that pay for size, where Screen 19 and 20 carry a clear premium over Screen 18.

Why “nothing below screen 16” matters

A lot can have 90% of its beans on screen 20 and still carry small beans in the other 10%. The “nothing below screen 16” limit closes that gap. Every bean in the bag is at least a Screen 16 bean, so the roast stays even.

Planning volume

Large beans are a small share of each crop. If you need regular shipments of Screen 19 or 20, tell us your yearly volume early. We will say plainly how much we can commit to and when.

How the lot is checked

Before loading, samples from your lot are checked for moisture, screen distribution, foreign matter and defects against your contract. If your contract names SGS, Control Union or Vinacontrol, they inspect the lot as well. You receive photos of your cargo and the container number before documents are released.

Documents

Usually a certificate of origin, a phytosanitary certificate, a fumigation certificate where required, a certificate of quality and quantity, a packing list, a commercial invoice and the bill of lading. EU buyers: EUDR due-diligence documentation — [STATUS]. Ask before the contract.

How to order

  1. Send the screen, preparation, volume, destination port and Incoterm by WhatsApp or the enquiry form. We reply within one working day, Vietnam time (UTC+7).
  2. Approve a sealed sample. It becomes the reference sample in the contract.
  3. Sign: CIF or CFR (CNF), FOB on request. L/C at sight, or a T/T deposit with the balance against documents.
  4. The lot is inspected and loaded. You receive photos, the container number and the documents.

Questions buyers ask

Is bigger always better?

Not in the cup. Bean size does not decide flavour. It decides how evenly the coffee roasts and how it looks. Choose Screen 19 or 20 when your customers see or pay for size.

Can I mix Screen 18 and Screen 20 in one container?

Tell us the split. We will say plainly whether it can be packed as separate lots, each with its own marks.

HS code
